ԱՄՆ-ի Սենատը ձայների 94` կողմ, 3՝ դեմ հարաբերակցությամբ հաստատել է Մասաչուսեթս նահանգի սենատոր, դեմոկրատ Ջոն Քերիին երկրի արտաքին գործերի նախարարի պաշտոնում:

Ջոն Քերիի այս պաշտոնում հաստատումը երբեք կասկած չի առաջացրել, և երեքշաբթի օրը կայացած քվեարկությունից առաջ երկու կուսակցությունների սենատորները գովասանքի խոսքեր են հղել նրա հասցեին:
